Summary:

This interview was conducted with Xavier Johnson at the Hudson Area Library in Hudson, NY on Saturday May 30, 2026. Xavier is from Hudson, moved to Washington state for a few years, then returned to Hudson with his mother. He describes the people who have influenced and supported him throughout his transitions between Hudson, Washington, and different educational systems. He speaks about his photography business and blog, his interest in arts, media, and clothing, and his experiences with volunteering at local thrift stores and an animal rescue. He also discusses his involvement with Hudson Hall’s Workforce Development program. He offers a vision for a teens program in Hudson inspired by both the Spark of Hudson and the Workforce Development program.

Aullie Allen attends Colgate University as an undergraduate student of Peace & Conflict Studiesvand Environmental Geography. Their current project involves compiling the narratives of Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS) scholars, staff, and associates into a digital archive. They are broadly interested in the official and unofficial communities that underprivileged and marginalized peoples form as support networks under hegemonic pressures. In other research, they examine questions of intersectionality, food justice, and agricultural stewardship.
