This interview was conducted with Preston Lee at the Youth Center on June 28,2025. Preston Lee is an eight year old who lives in Hudson, NY. Preston discusses his friendships in the city, his neighborhood, and his mom. Preston talks about what he enjoys about school, like Field Day, and about what happens at Hudson’s Youth Center. He describes that he wants to be a math wizard when he grows up, and to be successful. Preston shares that he wishes adults knew that children were open-minded, and that he wants there to be more good people in the world.
Sam Herron was a member of the 2025 Oral History Summer School cohort. Sam is a white queer person from Miami, Florida who currently lives in Philadelphia. They work as a high school librarian.
Oral history is an iterative process. In keeping with oral history values of anti-fixity, interviewees will have an opportunity to add, annotate and reflect upon their lives and interviews in perpetuity. Talking back to the archive is a form of “shared authority.”
