Megan Fountain contributed a performance of “Ceasefire Now,” recorded by Eva Parfitt at Hudson Hall in Hudson, New York, on May 27, 2026. Fountain also discusses singing the song with Jewish Voice for Peace at New Haven City Hall in Connecticut.
The song originated among U.S. activists protesting Israel’s war in Gaza and was subsequently transformed by Minneapolis–St. Paul activists into “Abolish ICE” in 2026, in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the Twin Cities. Fountain’s contribution therefore documents a protest song whose words and political application have changed as it has circulated between activist movements and places.
Oral history is an iterative process. In keeping with oral history values of anti-fixity, interviewees will have an opportunity to add, annotate and reflect upon their lives and interviews in perpetuity. Talking back to the archive is a form of “shared authority.”
